Dr Rana Woodward
BA (Hons, Psych), D Psych (Clinical), MAPS (Clin)
Member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists
Rana has been working as a psychologist since 2001 and is skilled in treating a wide range of psychological issues in adults and adolescents. Rana has worked in both public and private settings, not-for-profit organisations, and universities. Rana has also worked extensively as a supervisor of provisional psychologists in the Griffith University, UQ, QUT and USQ postgraduate clinical and psychology programs.
Rana’s Special Interest Areas:
Rana is a clinical psychologist with over 18 years’ experience providing psychological therapy for those most in need. She has worked successfully with a range of presentations, including some of the most complex areas, such as severe mental illness, older Australians, postnatal depression and complex trauma. She also has extensive experience with more frequently occurring psychological difficulties, such as anxiety, depression and issues with stress or adjustment to difficult life events. She has considerable experience in working with couples, and has also developed expertise in more recent years in working with people diagnosed with or being treated for cancer and their family members.
Rana is a Clinical Psychologist with doctorate level qualifications.
Rana is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist and an accredited supervisor who oversees the work of junior psychologists.
She is registered with Medicare Australia meaning that clients can receive a Medicare rebate for her sessions if they have a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan or a referral from a Psychiatrist.
Although Rana is a classically trained Cognitive Behaviour Therapist through the University of Queensland, since graduation she has added training and expertise across a range of modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Individuals, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Sensorimotor Therapy for complex trauma. She continues to love her work as a psychologist and thrives on the challenges and new learning that it throws at her daily. She believes it is the most amazing privilege to sit down with her clients and gently guide them through the process of change; and hopes to be still doing it when she is 80 years old. She also has extensive research and teaching experience, focusing on psychological functioning in older people.
Personally, Rana lives on the south-side with her partner and school-aged children; and is enjoying all the triumphs and tragedies of child-rearing from the inside.
